During this upcoming election El Pasoans will cast their votes to decide on proposed changes to the City Charter, the document that defines the powers and functions of elected officials as well as systems and essential procedures of the city government.
On April 26th, our membership decided to share a voting guide, which is grounded in our commitment to bringing fairness, equity, and justice to El Paso and our border community. as well as our endorsement of the El Paso Climate Charter and the insights provided by our community partners, Community First Coalition El Paso and Sunrise El Paso.

This season's ballot features several significant amendments, including PROP F, PROP I, and PROP K. Prior to releasing our recommendations we reached out to the police department and fire department to discuss mutually supporting our propositions, but we have not been able to reach any personnel. We also have concerns that removing the cap will require the city to take funds from other departments in order to avoid raising taxes.

Removes the requirement for a second petition in citizen-led initiatives and provides a procedure for citizens to initiate city ordinances

Civil Service Commission to reflect the diversity of community and city workforce

City Auditor to report to City Council instead of City Manager
PROP K
Climate Charter is a sound and necessary strategy to address climate change, create green jobs and protect our natural resources
